Where to find Montessori furniture in the UK?
May 7, 2021 - Furniture , Montessori - By Carine Robin
Where to find some Montessori friendly furniture in the UK? I am listed here my favourite items and shops that deliver to the UK.
Maria Montessori talked at length about the importance of the "environment".
Did you know that she was the first one to make child-size classroom furniture? Following in her footsteps, nurseries and preschools have child-friendly spaces and it's only natural for families practicing Montessori at home to make their space suitable for their little ones.
As always, I will start with a disclaimer: you can "make do" without those extra furniture. My child used a normal chair to reach the kitchen top and we had a single mattress on slated base as a floor bed.
However, I have find the learning tower and the child-size table useful. We are currently on a quest for the perfect desk.

Are you looking for Montessori activities for your child, but you don't have time to make three-part cards and search for printables?
Are you unsure what activities are appropriate? How best to present them to your child?
The Montessori Family box is a monthly subscription box for children aged 3 to 6, delivering Montessori activities directly to your door.
No more searching, printing and laminating!
LEARN MORESo here is my selection of Montessori friendly furniture store.
Little Bug - Montessori furniture
Carefully designed furniture to suit children's needs. Their in-house design team created a click-lock assembly method, so that each item can be built in minutes, without the need for tools.
There have floorbed, learning tower, shelving unit, toddler wardrobe, and much more!
I like their toy's shelf:

And their toddler's wardrobe:

Nido Family
They also sell Montessori materials sourced directly from Nienhuis and they have teamed up with a local company to create Montessori furniture.
After months of searching for the perfect child-sized furniture for their home, the team at Nido family found an incredible team in Stoke-on-Trent who had to redirect their business during the pandemic, and began to make furniture.
With their craftsmanship and their educational experts, they have worked together to design a beautiful furniture range, using sustainably sourced European plywood, which will support your growing family in every area of the home.
To make it even more practical for parents, their innovative team have developed an ingenious click-lock assembly method, so that each item can be built in minutes, without the need for tools.
I like their reversible floor bed:

Clann kids
It seems that it's more a "nursery" orientated shop but I like their indoor slide (since Ikea has discontinuated their slide).

Luula furniture
I'm in love with this desk from Luula furniture. They are not based in the UK but delivers to here.

Great little trading company
It's not specifically Montessori but this company is based in the UK and has some great storage and child's furniture.
I like their cube shelving.

Tidy book shelf
It started with a bookshelf but they have now some storage boxes, some wall shelves and more.

IKEA
I cannot have a post about furniture and not mentioning IKEA!
